The Vocal Minority community is proud to announce its April grantee: Vote Run Lead.

Founded in 2013, Vote Run Lead is a national non-partisan organization that unleashes the power of women leaders in democracy through training, technology and community. Here’s why our community chose Vote Run Lead:

  1. Reach: Since the 2016 election, over 6,000 women have signed up with Vote Run Lead to learn how to run for office.
  2. Impact: Vote Run Lead is a training powerhouse, propelling the elections of Ilhan Omar, the first Somali-American lawmaker, Brenda Lopez, the first Latina in the Georgia State assembly, and hundreds of others across both rural America and urban centers.
  3. Budget: With an annual operating budget of $478K, our $5K grant will make a big difference.

For the last 20 years, women’s political representation has hovered at around 20% at federal, state and city levels. By supporting Vote Run Lead, we empower women to have a seat at the table and set the stage for gender equity in elected office.
