Vocal Minority is proud to announce its fourth grantee of 2018: The Justice Committee.

Based in New York, The Justice Committee is a grassroots organization of New Yorkers impacted by police violence and systemic racism, including survivors as well as families who’ve lost loved ones to the police.

Here’s why we selected The Justice Committee:

  • Programs: With their Cop Watch program, teams of young adults patrol their communities and de-escalate violent police interactions by videotaping them
  • Impact: Recently, they secured a statewide executive order to ensure that a special prosecutor takes on cases of police brutality (By having a special prosecutor instead of the local district attorney, this increases the likelihood of judicial independence)
  • Budget: With an operating budget of $220K, our grant will make an impact

You can learn more about The Justice Committee on their website, Facebook page, or Twitter.
