As development of the Vodra Platform continues, we wanted to offer a more detailed look at the various features to be made available. Our goal is to service the needs of every content creator and ensure that they can seamlessly interact with their audience and monetize their content. We have designed each feature with flexibility in mind and are eager to see how users creatively implement them.
Each creator profile serves as a useful hub for information and links pertaining to a specific individual or organization. Once an audience member is directed to a creator’s profile page, they will be able to send a direct donation, vote on any ongoing projects, or begin/renew monthly donations to access reward tiers.
Creator profiles are designed to be directed to via a link on existing entertainment platforms such as in a video description, creator bio, livestream panel, or pop-up. Alternatively, audiences can browse through popular creators and projects directly on the Vodra Platform.
Creators will also have the option to showcase leaderboards with their top fans and designate certain rewards for them. These options encourage interactivity between audience members and creators which is mutually beneficial.
The most straightforward way to donate to a content creator is by sending them a direct VDR donation. Direct donations can be accompanied by messages which a creator can read and respond to. Donations can be sent while a creator is live streaming where the message will appear on stream, or sent while a creator is offline where it will appear on their profile feed.
To send a direct donation, an audience member can click the “Donate” button on the chosen creator profile. The user will then be prompted with a dialogue box where they can input the amount of VDR they wish to send and which version of the token they will be using to complete the transaction (Ethereum or Polygon). Finally, there is a field where messages can be inputted. The donation and message will then be added to the creator’s activity feed and they will be notified. Should the donation be sent while they are live streaming, the message will appear on stream through the creator’s broadcasting software.
Beyond supporting and interacting with a creator through direct donations, audience members can be afforded the opportunity to cast a ballot with their contributions. The project voting feature enables creators to post two separate projects that can be voted on with VDR, the winning project is then funded by the amount contributed.
Similar to a creator’s profile, a project page is where information about the two prospective projects can be added. A creator’s ongoing and completed projects are listed on their profile where audience members can browse for them or be directed to via a link. Creators are able to set a time limit for a vote or have the vote run until a project raises a certain amount. Contributions that are sent toward a losing or incomplete project are refunded.
The voting utility of VDR serves a double purpose of supporting creators but also cultivating better content. Creators are able to better appeal to their audiences and embark on more ambitious projects with greater resources.
The third major donation utility offered on the Vodra Platform is a monthly pledging and reward tier system. This allows for audiences to pledge an amount of VDR on a monthly basis to a chosen creator. Creators have the ability to customize their own contribution sizes and reward tiers.
The main incentive for a creator to utilize the monthly pledging feature is to obtain income stability. While live donations can be sporadic, monthly pledges are far more consistent. Creators are able and encouraged to tie in various reward tiers for their supports to obtain. These rewards can range from shoutouts in an upcoming video, exclusive content, or NFTs.
Much like with the other features mentioned so far, there will be leaderboards and charts for creators to track their supporters and income. Subscribing while a creator is streaming will also appear on stream if enabled, allowing for the creator to thank their loyal audience members in real time.
Feature Development & Creator Input
We are extremely excited to see how creators utilize the donation tools that we have created. We intend to work with creators to analyze how they make use of the platform so that we can further iterate and improve on certain aspects. A large array of integrations are also planned which will more seamlessly connect audiences to existing NFT, exclusive content, or gaming platforms.
As part of this effort, we continue to consult our Vodra Creators and learn about their different needs and concerns when it comes to monetizing their content. Our next article will involve interviewing some of our prelaunch creators and hearing their input.
