As we continue to socially distance during the COVID-19 pandemic, how do we handle the unknown?

Isolation/Inspiration explores how we deal with uncertainty by weaving our own thoughts and feelings with the stories of three other people who have been challenged and motivated by the unpredictable, the isolating, and the extreme.

Throughout the story, your voice enabled device will ask you about your own experiences to help create moments of connection and reflection. By interacting, you become a part of the narrative. And by sharing your responses in key moments, you add to the story for other future communal listeners.

At any time during the experience a question feels uncomfortable, you can skip, and the story adapts around you.

Here’s an example of how our own interactions combine personal questions with the overall story.

Isolation/Inspiration highlights the lives of three individuals who are experts in spending time alone or in remote places.

  • Amy Gubser, a competitive long distance open water swimmer who spends many hours swimming at night in some of the world’s most frigid and treacherous waters.
  • Joseph Jackson, a park ranger who spent three years living in an old ghost town in one of the most remote parts of California.
  • Maryam Moraveji, a mother of two who spent both pregnancies confined to bed rest for nearly the entire term.

What can we learn from these experts, and how can their stories inspire us to better understand ourselves? Isolation/Inspiration takes you on that journey, no matter where you are.
