The of Siri and Alexa

If you are interested in voice applications and tourism marketing, you will probably like this new campaign from the Vienna Tourist Board promoting EuroPride which takes place in June 2019.

The campaign is about the marriage of Siri and Alexa and is cleverly done with a series of videos on YouTube, and amplified through Facebook and an Instagram account where they expand the story using Instagram Highlights.

In essence the message of the campaign is about the inclusiveness of Vienna now that you can get married there, no matter your gender preference and the fact that it is the venue of EuroPride 2019.

One of their headlines on the website states “Never ever apologize for who you love — just celebrate it”.

The main video is beautifully shot. I have included some gifs in this article to give a sense of the campaign — but to appreciate the music, voice-over and full video head to the YouTube channel to watch the campaign video.

There are also a series of videos covering how Siri and Alexa first met - my favourite the honeymoon video.

Siri and Alexa — the honeymoon

I am sure the creative agency had lots of fun developing the story board — I love the angle that Siri and Alexa could not get through the metal detector to travel to Silicon Valley for their honeymoon.

So of course they had to honeymoon in Vienna — which presents the opportunity to showcase the city! Great tourism marketing!

And to accompany the campaign there is even an Alexa Skill for EuroPride.

It should also be noted that like any great visual campaigns today, content was created in landscape, portrait and square formats for different social networks.

Reading the comments on YouTube, it’s clear that not everyone appreciates the campaign.

But for me it’s probably one of the most memorable, current and fun tourism campaigns for 2019, and I am guessing will be (and certainly should be) nominated for a number of awards.

Well done the Vienna Tourism Board team and your creative agency.

I wonder if Google will make an appearance at some stage in the campaign if it continues in the forthcoming months as a third person in the relationship?!
