For Yahdiogo Agbo, art is a safe space. The Lagos, Nigeria-based photographer sought to reproduce that feeling of security and comfort in her latest collection–and succeeded.

‘Tranquility,’ produced as a part of the Voice x Women Rise NFT Residency, creates a feeling true to its name. Viewers are treated to a series of photographs depicting a young woman, clearly at peace, experiencing what Agbo refers to as “elements required in our lifestyle.”

As a part of her experience in the Residency, Agbo was able to further explore her artistic practice, largely inspired by personal experience.

“Tranquility arts are timeless art works,” she says,” and reflect on some experiences I had while growing up.”

Agbo’s artistic journey mirrors those of many others around her. Art requires patience, both for creating and consuming. It’s a lesson worth considering for the viewer, who might find the subtle differences between each NFT to be maddeningly mesmerizing.

Generally in life, humans are surrounded with dramatic nature and hurdles of life which require patience.

As a photographer, Agbo first dings inspiration in her mind, then translates that using light and lenses, sharing her vision with the rest of the world. For that, we should all be grateful.

The art is available for collection only on Voice.
