“The Internet”

By: Tristan Lew

For this poem, I didn’t know what to write.

So I went online and clicked on a website.

Googled what I should write down for this high school poem.

Your boy didn’t have inspiration so google had to show him.

Over one billion results that it showed me I smiled.

Limitless links in under a second, now homie that’s wild.

Yo, the internet’s great now don’t get me wrong cause,

Like I could find out the capital of a place like Sri Lanka

in the blink of my eye.

That’s the actual speed as long as you have good wifi.

Now why would I lie, I know you heard the kid.

Slide in Instagram dm’s tryna flirt with chicks.

But the internet’s freaky, everything’s permanent.

One slip up and you’re done I don’t prefer the risks.

Whether it’s a video, or picture, or post, or a tweet

One bad decision can leave you horribly beat.

Anything you put out online is going to live forever,

Just don’t do anything dumb and your life will be better.

We still have more to learn, we’ve only cracked the surface.

For all, we know the internet could have a bigger purpose.

Yea, the internet is great but we still have to discover more.

Speaking of the internet, follow me @tristanjl_.
