VoW Submission Guidelines 2020
Voices of Women is a Medium publication. We explore the lives of women from diverse backgrounds and bring forth their voices. VoW focuses on women who do not have the resources to publish and assist them with writing, editing, and publishing their stories.

Here are the submission guidelines to keep in mind.
- Interviews, photo-series, fictionalized true stories
We accept interviews conducted with women, photo-series following a particular theme, and fictionalized stories based on real-life incidents, as long as they feature women highlighting their lives and struggles. Your piece must be between 800 and 2000 words.
2. Focussed, interesting work
Focus on telling the story of your main protagonist, a woman. We are looking for well-developed stories, which convey a point and have a solid structure. Whether it is an interview or a fictionalized narration, all the stories must follow the five basic elements — the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution.
3. A featured image with a credited source
If you are publishing a real-life account, we encourage using real pictures after seeking prior permission. In case, the story is a semi-fictional piece, you may pick relevant images from unsplash.com.
4. Pieces targeted toward the upliftment of women
The purpose of your piece cannot be to spread hate, disparage, elicit outrage, or cause harm. We recommend sending women-focused stories aimed toward the empowerment of women from various socio-ethnic backgrounds.
5. Edit and make it clean
While we will edit your draft, we strongly encourage you to self-edit and check for grammatical mistakes, typos, or the general lack of structure. Please don’t overburden your draft with excessive formatting and imagery.
Lastly, we look forward to hearing your stories and help you publish them. Due credit will be given to the contributors, writers, and narrators. You may also publish your unpublished stories on Medium under VoW.
