Presenting Volt
We’re excited to announce that Volt Protocol will be live on mainnet Friday, April 22 at 12PM PST.
$VOLT is a new type of currency designed to provide permanently stable purchasing power by pegging price to CPI, a measurement of the prices of real world goods such as housing, energy, and food. Volt uses CPI data reported by a Chainlink oracle.
Like MakerDAO’s $DAI, $VOLT is backed by a mixture of user collateral and Peg Stability Module (PSM) deposits.
There are two ways for users to create $VOLT —
- By swapping $FEI (and in the future other stablecoins) for $VOLT in the PSM. These stablecoins go to yield venues such as Fuse or in the near future, Maple Finance. At launch, there will be 10m VOLT available for issuance in the PSM.
- By minting and borrowing $VOLT against collateral such as $ETH in the FeiRari DAO Fuse Pool 8. In the near future, numerous other collateral assets and pools will be onboarded. At launch, there will be 30m VOLT available for issuance through Fuse.
The VOLT DAO will also provide 100k VOLT in initial liquidity to Uniswap v3, to facilitate a lower cost of obtaining smaller quantities of VOLT.
There is an ongoing Volt meme and content contest with a 5k VOLT prize pool and 2.5k VOLT grand prize.
