First USA Storage’s recently renovated facility in Newton, NC

In my last post, I touched on Volta Global’s real estate investment mantra of aiming to do more than just buying and selling (aka “flipping”) properties we think are undervalued. Since we closed on our first self-storage facilities in North Carolina in June, we have been very involved in improving both the physical properties and the operations of the business attached to them, with a complete overhaul of the management office and exterior façade, as well as a full re-branding to our First USA Storage platform, complete with new signage, branded materials and customized polo shirts for our employees (my personal favorite).

All three facilities in North Carolina completed renovations in mid-November and as a first step in becoming involved with the local community, each site joined it’s respective Chamber of Commerce. First USA Storage along with the Chamber of Commerce and the cities of Kannapolis, Newton and Shelby, held ribbon cutting ceremonies at each facility as an introduction and official launch of our new business to the community.

After some brief mingling, Jeff Evans and I were handed the largest pair of scissors that we had ever seen, weighing in at over 5 pounds and approaching two feet in length. Together Volta Global along with the facility’s managers cut the ribbon, marking First USA Storage’s entrance into the local market. It was rewarding to see the warm welcome that First USA Storage received at each event. Newton Mayor, Anne Stedman kindly gave us words of encouragement, “we always love it when a business relocates to Newton, if you need any assistance, we are here to help you.”

The Mayor of Newton, Chamber of Commerce, Lindsey Self Storage Management, and Volta Global in attendance at First USA Storage’s ribbon cutting at the Newton, NC location.

With the initial ground work well behind us in North Carolina we move on to our latest acquisition in Clarksville, Tennessee where renovations are currently underway and a future ribbon cutting ceremony for First USA Storage’s fourth location is in the works. 2016 was truly an exciting year for the First USA Storage platform and 2017 looks to be even better with several properties already in the pipeline to close in Q1.
