Volta Resident, Skyline has rebranded to RetailDeep to better reflect their direction. The new brand represents the company’s refined focus on delivering deep insight through AI applications for retailers around the world.

“We came a long way, but have stayed true to our original vision of helping retailers deliver on a promise of personalized customer experience,” said Dr. Hai Hu, PhD, Co-founder of RetailDeep.

The rebrand comes at an exciting time for the startup. RetailDeep was recently shortlisted for the XRC Labs innovation accelerator in New York City (NYC). The team will travel to NYC next week to participate in the final round of the highly competitive application process that saw 500 applicants.

If accepted, RetailDeep will spend 12 weeks working out of XRC office space in the epicenter of retail and consumer goods, Manhattan, New York. Participation in the XRC accelerator will provide access to an ecosystem that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, brands and retailers to foster rapid innovation and unlock new opportunities in retail.

In addition to being XRC finalists, RetailDeep is also working with Highline Beta to develop a pitch for the RBC Innovation Fund Borellis, and will be among the first pitchers at Salesforce Trailblazers Canada Fund. RetailDeep is also set to expand their eight-store pilot at Chinese retailer, Pocket Noir, to include 100 locations across 20 cities in China. The startup has also piloted their product at Halifax’s Seaport Farmer’s Market and several other businesses in the City of Halifax.

“Our growth and success in Canada wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our partners,” said Hu. “There are many organizations, programs and people who have been instrumental in helping us develop our business from the moment we came to Nova Scotia.”

Co-founders of RetailDeep, Hai Hu and Changhai Jiang expanded their business from China to Halifax after going through Innovacorp’s Start-up Visa Program. Since then, they have become Residents at Volta Labs, worked with Nova Scotia Business Inc. on export development, and collaborated with Saint Mary’s University and Ramesh Venkat through the David Sobey Centre for Retail Innovation.
