Volta is thrilled to grow our community of innovators with the addition of eight new companies. With the official welcome of these companies, Volta is currently home to 32 technology startups.

“As someone who has been a Volta Network Member for quite some time, I have seen firsthand how supportive the community is and I’m incredibly proud that Tranquility Online is now a Resident,” said Joel Muise, Co-founder and CEO of Tranquility Online. “The access to resources and guidance provided by experienced mentors will help us grow our business and expand to new markets.”

Here are the new companies that now call Volta home:

  • 6Joes has built the original draft fantasy game for amateur golfers. It can be played as a stand-alone game or in tandem with any pre-organized event such as a club championship, invitational, men’s night, seniors’ day, corporate tournament, and more.
  • Simptek, originally from Fredericton, NB, is developing a smart data platform that simplifies energy management to make buildings work better by providing insights into the building’s energy usage, identify opportunities for cost savings and the best return on investment for capital projects.
  • With locations in both Toronto, ON and Sydney, NS, Volta is now a third home for Ubique Networks. This growing startup delivers a blockchain-powered computing grid, and a lag-optimized and fully automated esports solution for the gaming world.
  • iLokol is an internet company working on making it more efficient for Chinese newcomers to shop locally online to help adapt to life in Halifax.
  • Tranquility Online has created an online platform that makes getting help for anxiety easy, affordable and convenient.
  • CacheFlow is a behavioural cash flow management software for financial professionals.
  • Quantum Link is building vLife, a platform to connect socially conscious shoppers with more local providers to help support and grow local economies.
  • Crisis Text Line is a free 24/7, confidential support for people in crisis. Darren Mastropaolo, Director at Crisis Text Line International, has been a long-time Network Member and is now located in Volta.

The celebration took place in Volta’s recently opened event space within their new 60,000 square foot facility during a Champagne Welcome event, supported by LaBarge Weinstein.

“When I joined Volta, roughly 35 companies had been a part of the Residency program over Volta’s first three years,” said Jesse Rodgers, CEO. “Now, Volta has over 50 Resident and Alumni companies in our community — including more than 30 startups working out of our space today. That growth represents how far our community has come in the past five years.”

Volta’s Residency program offers more than $50,000 in resources to accepted startup companies. Interested becoming a Resident at Volta? Learn more here: https://voltaeffect.com/apply/residency.
