My heart breaks for the lives lost and those affected.

Once again I am overwhelmed by the meaninglessness of mass shootings. Meaningless as in I cannot make sense of why they have to occur.

Disease, however unfair it might seem to strike, I can understand. Cells in our bodies change or we get infected in ways we are unable to fight or fight enough. There is all of science and an army of medical professionals working as hard as they can to find cures for that.

Unfortunate accidents happen. That is why we have traffic laws and safety rules. To minimize the likelihood of those.

And while we cannot stop natural disasters we try our best to be able to withstand them.

But mass shootings are none of that. Not a disease. Not an accident. Not a natural disaster. They are preventable. If we wanted we could stop them right now. Just ban the guns.
