S: I know more about music than you do. My tastes are more refined and my library is more expansive. Is this cocky ? Or rude ? I hope it is, because they said I should begin on a high note. I have loved music, listening to it and critiquing it since forever and i have believed the opening statement for most of my life. Till I met Tobi. We were placed in the same dorm room in school. He would always be with his laptop and some struggling earpiece , trying to prettify some new album he got from Datpiff or Notjustok.com. Naturally, I would ask what he was listening to and then the arguments would begin. It was a wonderful time, I got all the new music without effort but more importantly, he taught me to curate a library. It was painstaking work. You listen to everything you could find, and then decide which songs had strong enough replay value to keep. he introduced me to the EDM universe, Black Hippie and the fringe musicians. He was the first person I knew that bought music. He paid Toya Delazy (bought her album) because he thought she was a genius.

For awhile now, he has been tweeting his best new things and why they will blow up sooner and later. He has made hits and misses, but more hits than misses. Occasionally, I speak out on music I really love. I however always make new playlists just because two songs associate very well. I figure we should properly and publicly curate music.

T: Please o! I don’t have the greatest taste when it comes to music. Seyi just likes to wash me. Anyway, I’ve decided to refer to this era as the “Demo” era. So many songs out there that sound unfinished & amateurish. Simply put, the mid is selling like prime 80’s cocaine. Most of the music we get are straight up disposable. And that’s why I like this DSP (Digital streaming platform)era. I can escape the bullshit & be in my own world. My attention is no longer forced to focus on the same 15 artists anymore. So Seyi & I have decided to curate songs we feel slap so much but fly under the radar. Artists who have that “Thing” but cos there’s no machine behind them yet, get overlooked. I’ve decided to share my world with you guys. Enjoy !!

P.S: If you read all the way here, this is for you, music is an art form. Besides the technicality of it , no one can really “know’ music more than anyone. That is, define what sounds good and what doesn’t. This is largely subjective. For this reason, we aren’t going to critic any of the songs shared. We would only share great songs you may not hear in the mainstream. And, on a lighter note, I lied in my first statement.

P.P.S: This was to come out in January. Naturally, some of the songs have blown up. Also expect another issue soon. Big shout out to Soundiiz. It is an app that lets you transfer your music across platforms for free.
