Helium ($HNT) hotspot mining is extremely popular in the cryptocurrency community right now. Some benefits to Helium mining are that it has a cheap start-up cost, Helium miners have a low heat output and make virtually no noise, and they have an extremely low electricity cost (less than $5USD per year). They are also OTA capable, meaning you can monitor and adjust their settings remotely.

Our Helium miners are currently each making about $20/day. At the time of writing this article, there are just over 300,000 miners on the People’s Network.

You’ve seen us cover many Helium miners on the VoskCoin YouTube Channel, including the Bobcat300, the MNTD. Blackspot, the Rak V2, Nebra, and Synchrobit. You can check out our full helium miner review article here. The latest Helium miner we are reviewing is the Linxdot Helium Hotspot.

Linxdot Specifications

Some of the specs of the Linxdot miner are outlined below. Overall, most Helium miners are built relatively the same. The biggest differences you’ll see between miners are mostly with the antennae. Luckily, if you aren’t happy with the performance of the antenna on your miner, you’re able to switch it out as you see fit. The Linxdot comes with a 3 dBi LoRa antenna, but we recommend using at least a 5.8 dBI antenna.

You can purchase a 5.8 dBi antenna on the RAKWirless website here. Make sure to also use our discount code (VOSKCOIN5) to get 5% off your purchase of a new antenna with RAK.

The Linxdot is available in US915, EU868, and AU915 frequencies. Linxdot currently uses the Synchrobit firmware, which we don’t recommend, but people have been happy with its performance and dashboard so far. Linxdot will also be moving from Raspberry Pi to Rockchip, so the base level hardware will be upgraded in the new models.

The only downside we found to the Linxdot miner is its size and the six LEDs on the front of the miner. The miner is a little bigger than some of the alternatives, like the MNTD Blackspot for instance, but still fits nicely on a windowsill. Overall, it has performed nicely and is a good Helium miner option.
