Meet the Team: VP of Engineering Srini Kandikattu

Votem is led by some of the most influential people in the elections, business, and blockchain spaces. This series will bring to light these individuals and their roles at Votem.

Srini leads the development and operations of Votem’s Mobile Voting Platform. He comes to Votem with 20+ years’ experience in software product development, management, operations and innovation. Prior to joining Votem, Srini was COO & CTO for mobile marketing platform company Archer, where he led multi-national teams building software products for the mobile marketing industry while also overseeing Operations and delivery of Services and Solutions. Prior to Archer, Srini held various senior leadership positions at iLoopMobile, IBM and Siebel.

What brought you to Votem?

When I looked at Votem and read through the mission statement, I realized, here is an opportunity for me to play a small role in changing the way we participate in one of the fundamental building blocks of modern democracy by bringing the process to the 21st century.

What has been the most challenging aspect of your work at Votem so far?

The most challenging aspect of my work at Votem so far has been in two areas: 1) Understanding the elections space in general from elections administration and operations aspect. 2) Working on the new voting protocol which we will be publishing to the open community relatively soon.

How important do you think innovation in the civic space is?

It has always been very important. Technology has dramatically increased effectiveness and efficiency of the social interactions we have, improve the participation/engagement through new forms of channels and provide access, transparency and visibility on various local and global agendas.

What kind of impact do you think Votem can have in the foreseeable future?

Votem has an opportunity to engage the future generations in the electoral process in terms of participation and re-establishing trust in the process. This is huge irrespective of the results, because by introducing transparency into the process while maintaining privacy and secrecy of the actual individual participation, we can make the process legitimate and reliable.
