Don’t you just love GIFs? Beautiful animated images that are almost everywhere on today’s Internet and making us laugh. Well we do!

GIFs have always been well-supported which is why people LOVE them so much, but on today’s Internet, being well-supported is not enough anymore. Today, size matters! Which is definitely counted as GIF’s cons since they are usually in a huge size(sometimes more than 40mb) which leads to waste of your bandwidth and even worse, if your Internet connection is not fast enough, you would have to wait for the GIF to load. Not on Voten though!

Today we released an update that adds support for GIF submissions. Uploaded GIF automatically gets converted to MP4 which thanks to HTML5 is now supported almost on all browsers. This means not only the quality will get better, but the size also gets drastically shortened. In average a 40mb GIFs becomes 3mb after conversion and loads at warp speed. Pretty sweet, right?

This promises a smooth experience for GIF lovers on Voten. MP4’s nice player is another matter that is worth mentioning. You no longer have to wait for GIFs to finish and start over just to watch a certain scene.

The public beta is set to release on March so take a seat and close your belts.
