Start every week with VPCo.’s Starting Five, our favorite highlights from the last week in sports.

  1. Hilton Hotels created a one-bedroom pop-up hotel for two lucky guests at this past weekend’s RBC Canadian Open. Guests received quite the treatment and were able to stay in a room ON the golf course.

2. Tottenham Hotspur and Ticketmaster teamed up to provide Spurs fans with a virtual venue that allows them to preview their experience before purchasing a ticket. Tottenham is the first team in the UK to create the virtual experience for fans.

3. The NFL will host their first official events in Africa later this month. NFL Africa: The Touchdown will be a week-long event full of activities, including a talent ID camp, a fan event and a flag football clinic.

The NFL probably saw the success other professional sports leagues have had in international markets and decided to do the same. I bet we’ll see NFL regular season games played in Africa within the next few years, too.

4. The NBA has teamed up with ESPN to provide the NBA Finals winner with “Victory Goggles” to wear during their locker room celebration. The sleek gold goggles will pair well with the Louis Vuitton NBA Finals trophy case.

5. Check out this fun clip from the USFL of a 51-yard TD catch.

Do you want to see camera angles like this in the NFL and in college football?

Until next time, best swishes.
