Starting Five: June 5
Start every week with VPCo.’s Starting Five, our favorite highlights from the last week in sports.
- Orlando’s bowl game has a new name (again), this time, swapping one Kellogg’s product for another.
The Cheez-It Bowl, played at Camping World Stadium, is now known as the Pop-Tarts Bowl. Since its inception, this bowl game has had many different naming rights partners, many of which college football fans remember.
2. Auburn Football sent a recruit a graphic claiming Auburn as the only school with a Buc-ee’s.
After the recruit tweeted the graphic, other schools and coaches joined in, showing off their own favorites. Ole Miss, USF, and Appalachian State were just a few of the schools that created their own versions of the Auburn graphic.
3. The Miami Heat ran a logo contest back in 1988. And according to Todd Radom, they got it right. The logo they went with has stood the test of time and is still loved by fans.

4. Pickleball inside the ballpark? Yes, you read that correctly.
The San Francisco Giants and Oracle Park will play host to the inaugural Pickle4 Ballpark Series this summer. The sport is continuing to grow in popularity and events like this only back that up.
Where will the Ballpark Series go next?
5. Luton Town FC was recently promoted to the Premier League, the highest tier of English football.
As it stands, their 120-year-old stadium currently holds 10,000 fans and its entrance is in the middle of a multi-family housing structure.
With the money that comes with promotion and plans for a new stadium nearly complete, it’s likely that Luton Town FC will only play one Premier League season on these grounds — unless they choose to renovate the site.
Until next time, best swishes.
