Start every week with VPCo.’s Starting Five, our favorite highlights from the last week in sports.

  1. Be on the lookout during this week’s RBC Canadian Open for theScore Bet Skyline Seats that will give select fans a chance to view the golf tournament from 100 feet in the air.

Would you sit in the Skyline Seats if given the chance?

2. If you missed it last week, Mark Light Shake went viral for this Buffalo-inspired hot wing milkshake at the Miami Hurricanes ballpark.

Yes, you read that correctly. Mark Light Shake created a number of novelty milkshakes to show some love to the teams playing in the Miami regional of the NCAA tournament.

Would you try the hot wing shake?

3. The popularity of soccer in America continues to rise and it’s also something that Nashville SC ownership is banking on.

Check out this article from SBJ’s Bret McCormick that takes a deep-dive into Nashville SC’s new Geodis Park and what it could mean for the city, the surrounding area, and the team’s growing fan base.

4. Nickelodeon has seen great success with their foray into football, so now they’re taking a swing at golf.

The Slime Cup tees off on June 25th and will see pro golfers, celebrities, and Nick personalities compete in one-of-a-kind golf challenges based on hit Nickelodeon television shows.

5. The NBA sponsorship revenue hit an all-time high this season after seeing a major increase in spending by cryptocurrency companies. Crypto companies increased their spending on NBA sponsorships by 6,400%.

In 2020–21, crypto companies spent less than $2 million on NBA sponsorships. This year? They spent over $130 million, taking the crypto category from the 43rd highest-spending category to the 2nd highest.

Until next time, best swishes.
