- The Oakland A’s reached a deal with Bally’s to build a ballpark in Las Vegas, and now, they await the MLB’s ruling on whether or not they can relocate the franchise.
Las Vegas is slowly becoming a sports hub, adding franchises left and right it seems. In addition to relocated franchises, Vegas hosts a number of different tournaments and events every year, bringing fans of all ages to Sin City.
2. The connecting between sports and fashion continues to grow as the MLB’s first “fashion-forward retail store” recently opened in Atlanta.
Threads by Braves Clubhouse Store hosted an event as a part of New Era’s 59FIFTY Day, showing off the new store and the merch it has to offer. As a part of the event, New Era debuted a line of new color combinations, including neon-colored Braves headwar.
New Era hats have been the MLB’s official headwear since 1993 and the fitted hat has become a staple in sports fashion, especially over the last decade. This new fashion-forward concept is their next step into the future of the sports-fashion crossover.
3. In-game interviews have taken over baseball over the last two years, receiving great feedback from fans who get to learn more about the players during the action, and now, it sounds like golf is next. CBS Sports executives believes in-round interview could become commonplace.
Max Homa participated in an in-round interview during the Farmers Insurance Open in January and fans LOVED it. Homa ended up winning the tournament the next day, proving that the interview did not distract him from on-course success.
4. SI Tickets, Sports Illustrated’s ticketing site, announced their new venture, “Box Office by SI Tickets,” with the hopes of revolutionizing the ticketing space.
Along with Box Office comes the new Super Ticket™, an NFT ticket that allows for event hosts to further connect with ticket buyers and event-goers.
5. NFL schedule release videos took over social media timelines last week and the Tennessee Titans were unofficially crowned the winners of this year’s schedule release, garnering over 28M+ views on Twitter alone.
Piggybacking off of a TikTok trend, the Titans found people on Broadway to name the teams they were playing based off of a picture of the team’s logo. The result was hilarious.
