Liquid Cinema will change the way you work with 360 video
Now a lot of 360 content creators follow the old cinematic rules and procedures. Shoot 360 content, stitch it together, render it, and upload. But not anymore.
Now there is more you can add to your repertoire. 360 video is a spherical medium, and provides many more options. With Liquid Cinema VR you can add transitions, graphic elements in several languages, and the game changing feature called forced perspective.
The Liquid is working only with metadata,…
Why is that so great? The Liquid is working only with metadata, so you don’t have to spend another half day rendering and uploading your video again. You just change it, and it works instantly.
In the software, all graphical elements are live rendered and can react to your gaze. It also allows you to make fades to avoid ugly compression artifacts that can ruin the experience.
Forced Perspective
Sometimes when a cut occurs in a 360 video, the viewer may be interested in a certain perspective, counter to the desired direction, and thereby misses information which is important to the narrative. To fix this problem, forced perspective will spin the sphere in the right direction and focus the viewer’s perspective, allowing the filmmaker to chose what the viewer sees, regardless of where they had been looking before.
Now the filmmaker can tell you what you should see regardless what where you were looking before.
This aspect is extremely important for narrative. The viewer will always be aware of what the storyteller wants to say. Never again will they miss the perfect shot.
And although it is called ‘forced’ perspective, it actually happens quite naturally, for in reality, the viewer does not notice at all.
360 Video Analytics
Once you upload your video, the player records a heat map according to exactly where your users are looking in the video. Now you can understand how your users enjoy your content.
Based on data, you can adjust your interactive elements and forced perspective. Since I am from the data based company, I kind of like it…
You should try it, today
This article may look somewhat like an advertisement, but I am just thrilled how awesome Liquid Cinema is. Try it and see it for yourself. Download the app here and watch all the basic tutorials on their Vimeo account.
I used to underestimate 360 cinema as a medium. I am working with VR, and video was not immersive enough for me. Now when content creators have these kinds of tools to work with, I believe we are on the path to override traditional cinema in a few years.
