Tilt Brush Art Gallery — Cult movie moments in VR
What happens when you take two artists and let them paint in virtual reality? See it for yourself…
You know Tilt Brush, right? No? It is cool software that lets you paint in the 3D space of virtual reality. In our VR atelier, at etnetera, I saw more than 100 people drawing in VR for the first time (so called vrgins), and it was absolutely amazing how differently people have reacted so far.
Some are like unchained wild animals, exploring the world of VR for the first time like kids do. Some are cautious, afraid they might hit something.
It surprised me that there was no correlation with age regarding how quickly you get used to virtual reality. Really!
Lifelong artist Marie Hruskova-Slavikova, a 92-year-old painter and art teacher, had accepted an invitation to use our Virtual reality atelier. She experienced painting in virtual reality for the first time, and it was just amazing to watch her paint with the steady hand of the professional.
VR exhibition of professionals
We’ve done hundreds of small VR sessions with our business partners, colleagues and friends. A month ago we started work with a professional artist from drawetc visual studio. We spontaneously organised a VR exhibition, and two illustrators did some great work in Tilt Brush.
It is amazing how professionals use this tool to create. No feature was left untouched. ‘The first round was one hour sketches; and even though it was their first time painting in VR, the results were great. Please, enjoy it for yourself.
We are looking forward to seeing how the Tilt Brush team develops this tool in the future.
The potential is huge and the progress will be much quicker than you’d probably think.
