Documentary, 7 min. 20 sec, directed by Kel O’Neill, Eline Jongsma, USA, Netherlands

The northern white rhino is the world’s most endangered animal. When Emmy-nominated filmmakers Eline Jongsma and Kel O’Neill began shooting The Ark, their VR documentary about the fight to save this magnificent creature, there were seven left; today there are only three, each protected 24/7 by armed bodyguards!

Kickstarter campaign helped them to raise $35,864 from 459 backers.

Film participated at Tribeca Film Festival, Melbourne IFF and still going to be screened in other festivals (including Mixar VR Film Festival in Russia).

I know the filmmakers from their previous incredible project “The Empire” which I’ve watched at IDFA in DocLab Exhibition — and that was one of the first times I really started to get the feeling where contemporary documentary has to move to.
