VIR:CINEMA Belarus: “Listapad” IFF
Visitors of the Industrial platform that is a part of Minsk International film festival “Listapad” got immersed in a virtual reality.
Around 250 spectators were watching the spherical films of “VIR:Cinema” section of such studios as ARTE360, NYTimes VR, Baobab Studios and RYOT. All visitors of the event that took part in TUT.BY Gallery got an opportunity to evaluate almost all best examples of using VR in the cinema — animation, documentaries, feature films and video essays.
The demonstration was held in a synchronous mode, which became possible due to the unique technology of “Great Gonzo Studio” team and virtual reality glasses “Fibrum”.
The organizers also provided an educational component of the process. In pauses between demonstrations guests of the Industrial platform shared their experience in creation the content in 360 format.
The discussion was curated by Mitriy Sorkin who is a founder of the Gallery of virtual reality VIR and the company Feeling Films, that deals with 360 videos in Belarus.
Creative producer of VR-projects Georgy Molodtsov shared the organization’ secrets of such festivals of spherical cinema as EMC VR Film Festival and MIXAR VR FILMFEST, he also talked about the features of directors’ working in cinematic VR and about the author’s motivation in selection 360 format for own stories.
The head of video production “Publisher Wargaming” Kirill Drozdovich answered the audience’ questions after the screening of “War Has No Nation” film, he talked about the production’ features of the project and expertise, which was acquired by the team while producing.
The head of R&D department “Great Gonzo Studio” Dmitry Vorobiev explained the technical components of the delivery process of 360 content to the viewers.
The director of 360 films Taras Kulik from the IDEAS studio also took part in the discussion.
Keen interest of the Industrial platform’ guests to the virtual reality’ topic gives a hope that in the nearest feature on the basis of VIR:Cinema in Belarus may appear a festival of spherical cinema and video.

Other films include prominent works like Edge of Space, The Temptation of St, Anthony и I,Philip by ARTE360, The Artist of Skid Row и Growing Up Girl by RYOT, The Fight for Falluja, Take Flight, The Displaced by The New York Times, Invasion! by Baobab Studios.
