Climb a 10-story Ladder In 360°’s with Nerve

Virtual Reality brings quite a few new ideas to the table in terms of what can be accompished with rich media. Despite the constant flow of new experiences, there seem to be no shortage of things to amaze us.

One of the more interesting facets of virtual reality, is that it might actually be able to help us with our real-life phobias. Experiences that are a tad too scary for us to have a go at on our own, can now be previewed with a little help from virtual reality. Whether your phobia is fear of spiders, heights or something third — there’s most likely a simulation out there that can help you!

Today, we’ll be walking you through an experience that is meant to freak you out a little bit. If you suffer from fear of heights, we recommend that you prepare for some light discomfort.

A few days ago, an interesting app surfaced on the Oculus Store. The ‘Nerve’ experiece as it’s called is based on the ‘Nerve’ movie by Liongate, in which a group of young people dare each other to partake in adrenaline-pumping stunts. The movie will hit the cinemas on August 25 this year, and if the videos are anything to go by — it will be one hell of a ride.

The experience-based app promoting the movie can be downloaded to your GearVR or Oculus Rift. Once you’ve loaded up the app, it presents you with a selection of heartshaking, panic-inducing virtual experiences of which you yourself can take part. All of which are actual scenes from the movie:

  • Climbing the ladder — Syd (video)
  • Climbing the ladder — Vee (video)
  • Skateboard Behind A Cop Car (video)

  • Emma Roberts
  • Dave Franco
  • Emily Meade
  • Miles Heizer
  • Juliette Lewis
  • Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly)
  • Kimiko Glenn
