The FOVE Eye Tracking Technology is something that will open up new and exciting ways to build with Virtual Reality.

The Kings and Queens of Eye Tracking Technology, FOVE, has just released the latest version of their SDK. This gem is now available for all of us to take for a spin. The SDK, also known as version 0.4.0 is written in C++, which allows for custom engines and native applications.

According to FOVE themselves, this version of the SDK contains a bunch of stable and reliable fixes, also seen in earlier releases. The content is published with the intent of aiding external content providers.

  • FOVE have implemented some exciting new features such as distortion meshes, and the exposing view matrices for each eye has received a significant upgrade.
  • The SDK is available for download now at Github. If you’re a VR Developer — Go give it a spin! The next SDK release is v.0.5.0 which will become available later this month, and we are looking forward to tag along for the ride!

FOVE — Eye Tracking Technology

Is this the first you have heard of FOVE? If that’s the case, then you’re in for a treat. The best way to get you filled in about what Eye Tracking Technology means, would be to showcase this incredible launch video.

While there are mixed opinions on the technology, it’s sure to open up for new ways to build. A review we found particularly great was this one from TESTED.

If you would like an overview, of how the FOVE compares to the already live, industry-leading headsets such as the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive, you can have a look at our VR Gear page and see for yourself.
