It’s that time of the year again — jack o’ lanterns, haunted houses, and that pair of eyes watching you from right behind the mirror everyone’s staring at. That’s right, it’s time for VRChat’s Halloween event: Spookality 2019!
Spookality is VRChat’s yearly event where we embrace the odd, the slightly creepy, and the weird. What better place to spend Halloween except where you can be anything you want to be? As a nice bonus, you don’t need to answer your door every three minutes to hand out your hard-earned candy.
In addition to hanging out in creepy, dark, and dank worlds with your friends, why not enter your latest spooky World or Avatar into our Spookality contest? For Spookality 2019, we have four categories:
- Worlds (PC)
- Worlds (Cross-Platform)
- Avatars (PC)
- Avatars (Cross-Platform)
For each of these categories, you can submit using our submission form. Ensure that you read up on our Terms and Conditions for the contest before submitting! These are available at the Spookality website. Violating these Terms (or the Terms of Service / Community Guidelines of VRChat) will result in disqualification.
Submissions to the PC categories may contain assets solely for PC. Submissions to Cross-Platform categories must contain assets for both PC and Quest usage, and should function when players from both platforms are present.
Submissions will be accepted starting on October 1st, 2019, and will end on October 23rd, 2019 at 12:00pm Pacific time. All submissions must consist entirely of original assets and the submitter must own full rights to the content (and all components of the content) submitted.
Each category has the same prizes:
- First place receives a $50 Threadless Gift Card, usable at the VRChat Merch Store
- First through Fifth place will receive a Limited Edition VRChat ceramic mug, as seen on our Dev Streams:
The submissions will be ranked by a spooky mystery panel of judges. The winners of the contest will be announced on or about November 9th, 2019, and will be announced via a post on our blog.
In addition, if you want to feature your Spookality-themed world, you can do so with a custom World row we’ll be adding! Simply add the tag “halloween” to your world, and it will appear in the World menu! You’ll also see Halloween worlds from previous years appear in this row. If you’d like to show off your Spookality-themed avatars, feel free to put them into an avatar world (tagged with “avatar”) and throw on the “halloween” tag as well.
We can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for VRChat’s Spookality 2019!
