Calling all Hunters! C-can you hear us? We need your help!
Can you feel the frigid chill crawling up your spine? Have the hairs on the back of your neck started to lift, ever so slightly? No, you aren’t imagining things — VRChat Spookality has returned once again to torment souls and we’ll need your help to ensure the safety of all.
Celebrate the spirit of Halloween in VRChat through our latest seasonal jam where our talented creator community transports us to mysterious and often terrifying worlds, or shows us what it means to haunt the night with their creative and uncanny avatars.
Be warned! The Spookality Jam opens EARLIER this year on October 1st to give everyone all month long to enjoy our spooky content! You can submit & update as often as you like until the October 22nd deadline.

Everyone in the top ten placing entries will receive prizes! That means there will be seven runner-ups beyond the top three in each category.

How do I enter Spookality?
Before you get started on your project, please take some time to review our Contest Terms and Conditions to make sure that your ideas meet our contest requirements as well as our Terms of Services & Community Guidelines.
Violating any of the rules will result in disqualification — so read carefully!
Additionally, all content submitted must make use of VRChat SDK3 to be qualified for entry. World submissions must use VRCSDK3 for Worlds and Avatar submissions must use VRCSDK3 for Avatars. While the use of more advanced features within the SDK (such as Udon and Avatars 3.0) is recommended, it is not required.
There isn’t a requirement for your content to be cross-platform compatible, but it will play a very strong role in the judgment criteria.

All submissions must consist entirely of original assets and the submitter must own or otherwise have the right to use the content submitted (including all component parts). By making a submission in this contest, you are warranting that you own or have a right to use the content in your submission and that your usage of such content does not violate or infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. For further information, please carefully read our Contest Terms and Conditions.
Submissions for the jam will be accepted starting on October 1st, 2021 at 12pm PT. We’ll post the itch.io submission link in our Discord as well as on our Twitter.
Submissions will close on October 22nd, 2021 at 12pm PT. You can update your submissions all the way until this close date. Please don’t update your submission after the closing time. Mark those calendars!
Once that’s done, here’s what to expect!
To provide our bravest ghost hunters with enough time to thoroughly investigate every reported haunting, we’ll keep submissions open for most of October, accompanied by a featured world row that will be live all month. As worlds are submitted and reviewed, they’ll be added into the Spookality 2021 World Row for all to explore. We’ll be prominently featuring World and Avatar submissions for the event in VRChat all Halloween Season!
As the contest deadline wraps up, the submissions will be reviewed and ranked by our mystery panel of judges and we’ll announce the contest winners on October 29, 2021 via a blog post. The winning entries will earn a spot in the Spookality 2021 Winner’s Row, which will go up at the same time! Winning avatars will be moved to the front of the Spookality Hub and marked as winners.
We’ll keep these up through the Halloween weekend, and for a few weeks after to ensure everyone has a chance to check out the winners.
Spookality 2022! Spookality forever!
Spookality is always a highlight of our year — and we know the same is true for our community. We’re always excited to see what kind of creative and engaging content everyone is able to put together.
Looking back over the last year: we’ve been running smaller, more frequent World Jams to give more creators an opportunity to have their content featured and highlighted in VRChat.
We’ve seen immense creativity and fun through these Jams, so future Spookalities will be moving to a similar format. We want to focus more on the accessibility, the fun of creation, and highlighting the holiday season, rather than the stress of competing to win prizes.
