A surveillance state a la 1984 is no comparison to the level of control a virtual reality could have on its occupants.

Picture this: A copy of reality where the designer creates and controls a user’s entire waking experience.

It is up to us today to utilize virtual reality as a tool to better ourselves and the world around us.

It is only by programming the foundations of our virtual reality with good intentions that we ensure a bright future where virtual reality is seen as a tool to aid mankind, not as a detriment.

The more effort we put into the design of our virtual systems today, the more likely they are to aid us in the future.

When dealing with a technology that will likely be used by billions in the future we should tread lightly. No one entity can claim to have a clear vision of what Virtual Reality should be. It is only by the collective efforts of pioneers, early adopters, and users that we can create a beneficial system.
