We have recently launched a COVID-19 tracker website app for social cause and social impact. Additional features will be added to the site to improve it further. The tracker provides a platform for collecting and providing real-time information regarding the spread of COVID-19 in your local municipality, district, and around the nation. It enables people to input their symptoms online to determine their risk assessment level whether they are low or high risk. This crowd-sourced data can also help local, provincial, and federal authorities plan and implement appropriate precautions and measures. Given the lack of extensive testing infrastructure in Nepal, this tool can be a good barometer to measure the true pressure on the system. We aim to provide pertinent COVID-19 data to the Nepalese healthcare system to help achieve a better understanding of the situation and increase awareness of the spread of the virus. Continuous data surveillance provides potential information to detect the next probable outbreak location, reduce transmission, and helps our nation’s hospitals and healthcare systems to manage their capacity and supplies to limit the risk of the system.

We want to make the workflow and experience seamless and as anonymous as feasible, and this is our unique offering. Other similar COVID-19 tracker tools in the Nepali web-sphere be it from the Federal, Provincial, or Municipality/Local Government, and Private Companies — most, if not all have either GPS location tracking, mandatory mobile number registration, and some even go the extreme route of uploading and verifying Citizenship or Government ID. Anonymous trackers and products similar to our ideology have existed in the West for a while now, for example — flatten.ca, covidnearyou.org, etc.
The only forms of tracking we have enabled on the website are for Analytics and Reporting purposes. However, we do have security protocols in place to stop or minimize any form of systemic abuse from spammers and are constantly monitoring it on our admin dashboard. Given the sensitivity of the situation, our current hypothesis is people will generally be honest about filling out their symptoms.
Secondarily, we also provide real-time COVID-19 stats for Nepal and around the globe, helpful informational guidelines from WHO, CDC, and others, and unique insights from our network of experts.
