First off, a huge thank you to those of you who’ve already submitted your shaders — we really appreciate your speed and dedication. Don’t worry, early submissions will absolutely be taken into account when we evaluate projects.

Since this is our first-ever shader hackathon, we’ve realized that some of the steps might have been a bit too challenging in a short time, especially with how busy everyone is. We’ve already extended it once, but after hearing from many of you, we’ve decided to add two more weeks to give everyone the space to build something great.

🗓️ New Deadline: 22 May

We’re excited to extend the window so more developers can:

  • Create original shader NFTs on V Systems according to one of the four theme tracks (see below)
  • Experiment and improve their skills
  • Take a shot at winning one of the 16 prizes ranging $500-$1000 in USDT/VSYS tokens (70/30)

To make things smoother, we’ll also be simplifying some parts of the process and offering more hands-on support. Check out the guide below!

1. Code your Shader

This step can’t be skipped — build your original Shader!

It’s part of the Hackathon to keep it below 16 KB — make sure you remove extra features (e.g., mouse interactions) that make it extra heavy!

2. Prepare the file to upload to the blockchain

There are two possible ways to do this:

OPTION 1: RUST binary build upload

This allows you to create more complex shaders with fewer KB — it’s a little more challenging, though.

You need to:

  • Use RUST to compile your Shader into a binary format
  • You should end up having a .wasm file
  • Compress it into a zip file

Follow the tutorial below to learn more:

OPTION 2: Javascript upload

Keep it simple, and just upload a file containing the Shader javascript file as well as the index.html one.

This considerably simplifies the process for you — at the same time, you may be able to include less features.

3. Upload your zip file to the blockchain

Once your dist.zip is ready and under the size limit:

  • Visit https://marketplace.v.systems/
  • Click on “Connect Wallet” in the top right corner
  • Create your new Titan Wallet account by following this tutorial
  • Once your Titan Wallet is successfully created and you are logged in, stay on Titan Wallet and click on “Receive”
  • Copy your wallet address to receive VSYS tokens and send it to us via this form.
We will send you 200 VSYS tokens to start minting your Shader NFT within 1 working day.
  • Once you have received your 200 VSYS, visit https://marketplace.v.systems/mint
  • Click on “Mint” to upload your ZIP file
Please note that you will first have to create a Collection before you can mint your first (Shader) NFT.
  • Add a title, description, tags, and preview
  • Click on “Mint” to mint your Shader into an NFT!
  • Please note that it costs 101 VSYS to mint your first NFT.

Follow these instructions to create your Titan Wallet & log into the V Systems marketplace, and mint your first NFTs

8. Submit Your Project for Review

You’re almost set! Now that your Shader is built and uploaded to the blockchain, submit the project to our panel of judges for review:

  1. Visit https://hackathon.v.systems/
  2. Click on “Submit your Project”
  3. Fill out the form and submit it
Remember to include the Token ID of your Shader project. You can find it at the bottom of the page where your Shader is displayed.

Prizes

Juicy rewards will be up for grabs, with a total of 16 winners (four for each one of the four theme track), with prizes ranging between $500 and $1000:

  • Top Prize: $1000
  • Best Visuals: $750
  • Best Tech: $750
  • Community Vote: $500

The total prize pool amounts to $12,000.

Please note that we will only consider projects submitted via the Hackathon Portal between April 13 and May 22. Rewards will be distributed in USDT and VSYS tokens (70/30).

REMINDER: Follow one of the four theme tracks
