Have you always wanted to see Vince Vaughn play an awkward and cute high school chick? Well, you’re going to. Christopher Landon’s new body swap horror-comedy doesn’t offer much, but fun and gore are among the few treats.

Landon delivered the surprisingly bonkers and charming Happy Death Day three years ago. He mixed up Groundhog Day by adding some college humor, a serial killer, and a hot blonde to it. The result? It was like stuffing down a large bowl of ice cream in your throat at once; at first, brain-freeze shock, and then a delicious euphoria. His latest attempt, Freaky, isn’t that tasty, but you won’t spit it out with disgust. The reason? Vince Vaughn.

He plays a serial killer named The Blissfield Butcher who wears a cheap edition Jason hockey mask and likes to hunt, kill, and gut pretentious teenagers. On his last killing spree, he steals an ancient dagger (La Dola) that has supernatural power. He finds out about that after stabbing his next victim Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton), a bullied high school student. The following morning they find themselves in a Freaky Friday situation; they switched bodies.
