Are We Allowed to Smile When Millions Suffer?

I caught myself unable to have a genuine heartfelt smile since I heard of the atrocious Russian invasion into Ukraine. It was such surreal and shocking news that I spent a couple of hours reading different news articles in order to make sense of the situation.
