Melighar — The Arcane Whisperer
The Hash Rush Lore Spotlight returns, giving you an insight into the lore found in Hash Rush!
This week we have the third and final Ernack Hero to Melighar — The Arcane Whisperer, aka the Grand Mage.
So without further ado, let’s begin!
Before the Crypto Crystal Storm, Melighar was one of the most powerful and respected of the Trinell. He even journeyed with Master Zel’dien on a quest to find the legendary Braces of Cryptar.
When the Crypto Storm struck, Melighar was teaching on the outskirts of the Trinell capital city. He and his students used their mastery of elemental magic to block and divert many of the Crystal shards as they fell from the sky. Before long, however, they were overwhelmed as one by one the students perished or faded away until only Melighar remained. Finally, as a large Crystal crashed into the Citadel, Melighar passed out.
After the storm ended, all but one of the Trinell had been de-evolved into the race now known as Ernacks. By some mysterious quirk of fate the Trinell known as Zel’foran, student of Master Zel’dien, had instead become a being of great power — the Traveller.
As the Traveller explored the ruins of Cryptopia he heard a commotion under one of the crushed hovels. In it, he found the de-evolved form of Melighar, with this pointy hat now covering most of his body, and his cloak dragging behind him like a long scarf.
Upon seeing the Traveller, Melighar took a fighting stance, at first thinking that the Traveller was the cause of the Crypto Crystal Storm. However, as he did so Melighar’s hat slipped over his face. This humorous event brought the confrontation to an abrupt halt. After looking closer at the laughing Traveller, Melighar noticed that he was wearing Master Zel’diens’ cloak, and finally understood who this being must be.
To the Traveller’s surprise, he found that Melighar could still communicate by burning words into the wall next to him. The message simply read: “Students, I pray for your safety. If you are reading this, meet me at the Golden Grove”
As they both left the hovel, Melighar walked to the place where he and his students had fought so valiantly to deflect the crystals. Seeing the corpses litter the ground, Melighar fell to his knees and clenched his fists in agony. He then looked to the Traveller for guidance.
The Traveller then told Melighar that he must help rebuild this place, not only for the survivors but also for all the others that they had lost. Melighar nodded and they walked side by side to the Golden Grove in the hope of finding some other survivors.
The Golden Grove is a cave and site of the Shrine of Cryptar. Once filled with subterranean trees that blossomed with glowing golden flowers, after the Crystal Storm the cave was but a hollow of broken trees and thousands of golden leaves covering the floor. Upon entering the Golden Grove, Melighar approached the Shrine of Cryptar and asked the Traveller to search for others as he meditated and regained his strength.
After exiting, the Traveller heard a mighty cry and a tremendous lightning bolt collapsed the entrance of the cave. Melighar needs time to heal the pain in his heart before he can help the Traveller rebuild Cryptonia.
