My Pen Holder

This is the only pen holder on my desk and I have never put any pens inside. It’s a gift from my parents which they brought from a Taiwanese aborigine in Nantou. The aborigine told my parents that it was a handmade pen holder made from real ivory and the sculpture on the surface was carved by himself. Though we doubted the truth in his word, my parents still bought it for me as a gift. It was because we all believe owls are the symbol of wisdom. They put it on my desk and hope it could bring me some good luck and inspirations when I was studying. Moreover, because owls can see clearly in the dark, they wish me to be smart enough as an owl to sharply distinguish between right or wrong in this society where it is full of deceptions now and people weren’t as simple as they were before. Although I’m not sure whether I have become the girl as my parents wish, I regard it as a wish from my parents and will also remind myself to think twice carefully before any action.
