The secret recipe for Your success

We have all heard it before.

“If you just wake up and study, you will be successful and pass your exams.”

“Just follow these twelve steps and you will overcome…”

“If you buy them roses regularly, take them to dinner, treat them well you will have a happy relationship…”

We have all tried a few formulas, read a few books and watched videos that promise us quick success if only we do ‘this’ and ‘that’.

Nobody wants to fail. Though failure is sometimes is needed for growth, the feeling that comes with failing is one I’d rather avoid in this lifetime. And that is why we are all searching for that one formula, that recipe, that easy way we can succeed.

Well the reality of the matter is that… There is none. And that does happen to be my opinion.

There is no ‘ONE’ ultimate secret recipe you can buy or download and follow like a ‘to do’ list that will make YOU achieve all your goals. If that was the case and if it was that easy, we would all have it, and a lot of people would be more successful with what they want to achieve.

We read books and watch videos by people we emulate and the mistake most of us make is that we try to duplicate EXACTLY what they did in order to get to where they are now. And that is why they don’t work. What most people do forget is that everyone has a different story with different circumstances.

The ‘secrets’ or ‘steps’ given to us by people who have succeeded is based on their unique story, their unique experience that has shaped their thinking. There is no success story that is exactly the same, that is because they are no two individuals with the same exact same experiences and mind set in life.

Therefore, there is only one person in this entire world with YOUR ‘full’ secret recipe for success, and that is…

YOU.

You are in possession of your recipe. Only you know what you have to do succeed. Look deep into your inner wisdom and it will tell you what you need to do, if you need to put in more effort, or if you need to change your habits. Only you can do that and no one else can create that recipe for you.

But the things you can look for in other people, the things that can help you create your own recipe, are the ingredients. The common habits and traits that they all possess.

Tom Brady, Mark Zuckerberg, Will smith, Serena Williams, you name them. When you look closely at their stories and actions, they are certain common habits and traits that they all have that you can use to help you achieve success.

What are some of these habits and traits, these ingredients? Allow me to show you three.

The mentality

The mentality with which you approach your goals will have much to do when determining whether you will achieve them or not.

That is a fact.

Most of us are trying to follow the success steps without first working on our mentality. Our mentality will determine our focus, perseverance, innovation, a positive perspective etc.

And the first thing we need to have in our mentality is belief. We need to believe we can achieve our goals no matter what. And most of us just don’t believe it. So when we start takin steps towards our goal without the mentality, at the first or second challenge, we crumble and give up.

They are a number of triggers that stimulate a strong mentality, for example, experiencing consistent loss or hitting rock bottom. Sometimes when you lose too much or hit rock bottom and say ‘enough is enough’, that will spark that aggressive mentality needed to achieve your goals.

Love and Passion

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” — Steve Jobs

Another ingredient, or rather two ingredients, most successful people possess is love and passion for what they do. Most people succeed at what they love to do. That is because if you love the thing you are working at, you can do it with passion and you can keep doing it easily for a very, very long time. When you love something and you are passionate about it, you will always want more and will want to get to the next level, because learning something new about your craft will be fulfilling.

It is possible to succeed at what you don’t love or you are not passionate about, but in order to succeed at it, you need to replace love and passion with another ingredient. And that is your ‘why’. That is, your reason for wanting to be successful. You need to have a very strong reason that will make you ignore everything you hate about it, and make you want to get to the next level. The stronger the reason, the higher your chances of success will be.

The willingness to Spend time honing on your gift

The more you do something the better you become at it. It is one of the oldest rules of life. Deliberate practice when learning something new for a long time will let you become a master at it. And this is another ingredient possessed by the successful.

Successful people see time as an investment and not as wasted.

Have you heard of the 10,000 hour rule? Malcom Gladwell, in his book “Outliers,” shares a principle for success. The principle holds that 10,000 hours of “deliberate practice” are needed to become world-class in any field.

Although people have disputed this rule, and it is true that it may take you less or a lot more time to become world class at something, the concept and principle still stands and that is: ‘To be world- class or successful at something you will need to spend a lot hours deliberately practicing to do so.’

You need to know everything there is to know about what you have to do to be successful in your craft and that will take you a while it will not be an easy overnight quick fix. The bigger the goal, the longer it will take to achieve.

They are no overnight stories. Even the ones that may seem so took a while to be created.

Conclusion

So, instead of always trying to search for the recipe and formula for success out there, try looking inside you and pull it out of you. Instead of waiting for someone to create another list you wish to follow, why not create one yourself. One that will actually work for you.
