And now these children face hunger

“Over 5 million children are on the verge of a famine disaster in Yemen,” as warned by the charity organization Save the Children. The disaster is the result of the civil war that has been dragging on since 2004. About 120 thousand Shiite insurgents, the Hussites, are fighting for autonomy with the Sunni government. The first are supported by Iran, Hezbollah and mercenaries from Lebanon, Eritrea and Afghanistan. The latter are the legal government supported by 80 thousand soldiers. The 20 thousand strong Gulf coalition army led by Saudi Arabia along with the air force and fleet of Pakistan, Morocco, Senegal, Sudan, Malaysia, Egypt and the United States are also siding with the government. Against the backdrop of civil chaos, terrorists from the Islamic State invaded the country and became a third party to the conflict. The fiercest battles are taking place over the port city of Al-Hodeidah in the Red Sea, as this is the main artery for bringing food and fuel into the country. At the moment, Saudi Arabia and its allies have imposed a blockade on the port in order to stop the insurgent from smuggling arms. The supply of essential goods has been interrupted as a result and prices are inflated to the limit.

Yemen faces an unprecedented scale of famine according to the report “Save the Children”. The lives of more than 8 million Yemenis, including 5.3 million children now depend on food supplied by charity organizations.

“This war risks killing off an entire generation of Yemenis. In one hospital I visited in the north of the country, the children were too weak to cry, their bodies were exhausted by hunger. They do not know when and where they will have their next meal,” said Helle Thorning-Schmidt, CEO of Save the Children. “If the blockade and hostilities in Al Hodeida continue, the distribution of food to those in need will be reduced.”

Save the Children has been working in Yemen, the poorest country in the Arab world, since 1963. Its volunteers build schools for local children, organize their education, leisure, feed, and clothe them. Right now, by the way, field managers are required in the cities of Agen and Lahj. It will be necessary to manage personnel, provide logistics and legal support. The vacancy description can be found here

Try your hand at it by enrolling as a volunteer for Yemen and launching your own charity campaign. Local children just need your help. But do not forget that fundraising is safe and transparent only on the W12 blockchain platform. You will not even need any start-up capital to run a project on it. Our team will conduct a marketing campaign and a commission (from 0 to 10%) will be charged only after successful collection of funds.
