The second draft of the new education law is now available for public feedback.

After the first period of public feedback last winter, ESSA workgroups reconvened to address each comment, and consider whether to include them in the plan. The new draft incorporates those changes, as well as a number of accountability decisions that had been left open during the drafting of the original plan.

Those wishing to read the revised ESSA Consolidated Plan may do so here, and may provide feedback during the 30 day comment period, August 7 to September 5.

OSPI has scheduled five webinars throughout August to allow Washingtonians the opportunity to learn about changes made to the ESSA Consolidated Plan:

  • Tuesday, August 15, 4–6 p.m. (register)
  • Wednesday, August 16, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. (register)
  • Saturday, August 19, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. (register)
  • Wednesday, August 23, 5–7 p.m. (register)
  • Wednesday, August 30, 6–8 p.m. (register)

At the end of the 30-day comment period, OSPI will consider all comments provided during the comment period, make changes to the plan if necessary, and prepare the Plan for submission to the U.S. Department of Education on September 18, 2017.
