HCA has been named a Healthy People 2030 Champion
Making us the first Washington State government agency to earn the distinction
HCA has been officially recognized as a Healthy People 2030 Champion by the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) for our efforts to improve health and well-being at the local, state, and tribal levels.
We are one of only three organizations in Washington State that have earned this designation, and the only state government entity in Washington to earn it.
Healthy People 2030 is the fifth iteration of the Healthy People initiative, which sets 10-year national objectives to improve health and well-being nationwide. Healthy People 2030 Champions are public and private organizations working to help achieve Healthy People objectives.
“HCA is incredibly proud to be named a Healthy People 2030 Champion by ODPHP. This designation is a testament to our commitment to improving the health and well-being of all Washington residents,” said Dr. Judy Zerzan-Thul, Chief Medical Officer at HCA. “We believe in a healthier Washington and are excited to partner with ODPHP and other organizations in this important work.”
As a Healthy People 2030 Champion, HCA has demonstrated a commitment to helping achieve the Healthy People 2030 vision of a society in which all people can achieve their full potential for health and well-being across their lifespan.
HCA addresses disease prevention and health promotion in several ways, including:
- Diabetes prevention programs in our public employees and school employees benefits programs
- Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative, a coalition that provides substance abuse prevention services and strategies to local communities
- Well-child visits for adolescents in our Apple Health (Medicaid) program
- Advancing health equity through Washington State’s Pro-Equity Anti-Racism Plan and Playbook
- First Steps maternity and infant care services for Apple Health clients
- Supportive housing and supported employment through Foundational Community Supports
- And many more!
