Afrixx Exists, But Why?

What happens when a huge chunk of context is missing? Something gets broken.

As Africans, we feel adrift when vital parts of the context that make up our identity are missing. We see our experiences as new and unique, but that’s not the case. It’s a symptom of the missing context which we need to improve our self-perception as a whole.
This is why Afrixx is digging up some much needed context by telling the stories of African legends, icons whose names are heavy with the weight of their exploits and accomplishments. Afrixx is the first generative NFT project on Cardano and featuring 10,000 algorithmically generated art pieces about Africans and their stories. Our aim is to expand the knowledge of Africans and their history. We are focused on using this medium as a means of education, reawakening of African identity and knowledge preservation.

We, along with you, will be telling and sharing these stories as closely as possible to how they are known in their places of inception, removing the dilution that comes from others who have told them for us over and over.

How will this work?
Let’s start with the basics. We dig deep for stories of 15 iconic Africans in history, create 3D characters of them and enter their attributes into a database. These include people like Mansa Musa, Sango, Queen Idia, Emotan and others.
The other 10,000 pieces will have their features and attires automatically generated from the attributes of the 15 pieces. They are an artistic symbolism of how our ancestors’ attributes and stories get passed down across the ages, mixing and growing to become a continent of extensively diverse cultures and traditions.

How do you come in?

You can generate a character on the Afrixx platform which will have ties to the 15 iconic characters and as a result, create a new story out of existing ones.

How far gone are we with the project?
It’s almost ready for launch. The 15 characters are done and the database the 10,000 will generated from is just about ready. Our vision for this project expands beyond these NFTs and we’ll be sharing more developments as we progress.
