What: An electric one-day festival focusing on underground house and techno, with dozens of acts spread over eight stages.

When: Saturday 6th August, 2016

Where: Hatfield House, London

Every year, millions of people from around the world come to London with one place on their minds: Greenwich. It is arguably the most influential place on Earth, with other countries adjusting their time zone according to it (GMT). What most people don’t know is that the Meridian Line & Historic Royal Observatory is just placed on top of a hill and is pretty boring. However, there is an alternative destination at Greenwich that ISN’T boring and doesn’t disappoint: Eastern Electrics.

Tell me more

Eastern Electrics started as an infamous party in the capital 8 years ago. Over the years, it has built up long standing relationships with some of the most celebrated house and techno artists on the global circuit. It played a big role in the amplification of quality underground dance music and its main players in the UK. In its fifth year as a festival, the calibre of talent playing this year proves why Eastern Electrics is the brand that it is today. Expect ridiculously good music played across 8 unique stages on a day of dancing and debauchery. I am pumped and we are already counting down the days here at Waffle HQ.

The atmosphere

The clue is in the name. Eastern Electrics pulls out all the stops to create a mad platform for underground house and techno music. Okay, it doesn’t have quite the same oomph of Tomorrowland or Ultra Miami but if last year’s packed out festival is anything to go by, then this year is guaranteed to be as good as dare I say EDC UK.

You can definitely catch a Pikatchu here

For me, Sankeys hosted the best stage by a mile last year! Festival-goers know that tents and open air stages mean less powerful sound. Having said that, their tent was more like a dome with just a couple of small entrances at the corners (so small you had to duck when going in or out). Unfortunately, it won’t be there this year so who knows what’s in store for us. Also don’t forget to activate your wristband online before the event, otherwise you will be denied entry to the event!

The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Eastern Electrics will be hosting not one but TWO after parties! One at Egg in London and the other at The Forum in Hertfordshire. UK festivals are usually day ones (unlike most other countries) but now you can carry on till the early hours.

Who’s playing?

This year’s line up is looking wavy. If you are new to EDM, you may not have heard of these artists before. But if you live for house and techno, you know shit’s going to go down. The main stage is set to erupt with nutheads Seth Troxler, Hot Since 82 and The Martinez Brothers stealing the show. You also might want to try and break through the crowd to see Groove Armada at Switchyard.

Getting There

Car: Ironically, it’s located in North London. The address is The House Office, Great North Rd, Hertfordshire, Hatfield, AL9 5NQ. It’s an hour and a half drive from central London.

Bus: There are no buses to Hatfield House. However, local bus services do regular drop offs at Hatfield railway station and it’s a 15 minute walk from there.

Train: The closest station to the venue is Hatfield. Trains from Kings Cross are the quickest and easiest way to get to the venue. You can also take the overground from Finsbury Park to Hatfield.
