Ibiza offers the complete selection of electronic music, with techno and EDM both being extremely popular on the menu. Traditionally Space was THE place for techno but with this summer marking its last season, its reign is now officially coming to an end. The competition is FIERCE but Amnesia looks set to take up the helm (if it doesn’t get closed down… Eek).
It plays host to multiple iconic techno nights and offers a proper finish to the week at its renowned EDM party on Sundays. Check out below what’s hot this summer ⬇️
Cocoon
You will no longer hate Mondays once you’re in Ibiza. Forget about those early mornings, yawning through the day, mourning the weekend that has just passed, already praying for the next one.
In Ibiza it’s all happiness and laughter and brunching in the shade while enjoying the sea breeze. Once the sun sets, girls start to get ready and the boys are popping bottles, preparing for another legendary techno night at Cocoon.
This is a party that has become synonymous with Monday night clubbing over the past SEVENTEEN years (alongside Circo Loco @ DC10) and has featured Sven Väth as its resident DJ ever since its conception. Sven has been a true master of the decks for over 30 years and he still plays vinyl to this day. He’s a modern day techno GOD alongside my personal hall of famers Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and Adam Beyer.
This year’s line up also include sets from Solomun, Nina Kraviz, Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler, Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin, Guy Gerber, and Luciano #EXCITEMENT 💃💃💃
Hyte
Hyte is a global party organiser, with Wednesday nights at Amnesia reserved for the biggest techno DJs to hypnotise the devout crowds. Artists wise, Hyte is Loco Dice’s night. The resident DJs are Chris Liebing and Pan-Pot with special guests including artists such as Dubfire, Benny Rodrigues, and Caribou. The party’s motto is:
“Yes to the artists pushing boundaries, exploring the unknown and redefining genres. Yes to every country, race and age that come together under one roof. Yes to every style of music that pulses through our veins, and yes to the sounds of the future which we define together in these moments to come.”
In my mind Chris Liebing, Pan-Pot and Dubfire are doing some of the most interesting stuff in techno right now. Although this night competes with Paradise at DC10, it’s well worth skipping it to catch these masters at work. I personally listen to every single one of Chris’s mix’s (and he’s one of my greatest inspirations for my own mini mixes). Each set he produces really does deliver. Music On
Every Friday Marco Carola brings the fans together for a full house/techno blowout at Music On. His iconic world renowned brand. Besides this icon, the line up consists of underground big dogs including The Martinez Brothers and Stacey Pullen.
Carola tends to attract many of his fellow Italians, giving a twist to the generally international crowd. This night is PACKED, mostly because Carola is Carola plus it’s in Amnesia and on a Friday night. So make sure you arrive early even if you have a table.
The crowd for this night is just amazing. Be prepared though, the pulsing energy of the night doesn’t run out easily and the techno-junkies will still be going strong in the rays of the rising sun 😎
House of Madness
The world-famous duo of Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike host a night filled with the most contagious EDM beats which are guaranteed to make your feet stomp. And it’s EVERY Sunday, isn’t that just wonderful? It’s one of the only nights on the island that is full on EDM that I rate. Personally though I still prefer Heart on Sundays for Acid Pauli or Pacha for Solomun (although these days everyone has cottoned on and it’s rammed worse than a night at Carola).
Besides these mad geniuses, the guest DJs will make you wish you could spend all your weekends at Amnesia: expect Nicky Romero, Steve Aoki, Armin Van Buureen, and DVBBS to blow you away as the bass drops.
