4 things to do in London at Christmas time
Team Wagonex love getting out and about, here are just 4 suggestions of what to do if you find yourself in London throughout the festive period
- Food markets
Wrap up warm and have a feast. London has plenty of great food markets, our favourite two being Maltby Street Market and Borough Market. Although these markets are open all year round, they definitely ramp it up in time for Christmas. If you enjoy doing your Christmas shopping off the beaten track, then both these markets are definitely worth checking out. Borough Market is the significantly larger and busier of the two.
At Borough Market we suggest looking out for the fantastic doughnuts by Bread Ahead.
At Maltby Street Market get yourself a real hot chocolate from Fatties…
2. Ice skating
Ice skating is the perfect way to enjoy the Christmas lights and vibes across town. There are plenty of ice skating rinks to choose from. The Natural History Museum and Somerset House are two of the prettiest. Somerset House also does Skate Lates to combine music and skating. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
3. Christmas markets
One of our favourite Christmas markets in London is Southbank Christmas Market. Not only is there great food and drink, think caramelised nuts, roasted chestnuts and mulled cider, but also an amazing view of the city. Organised along the river are Nordic-inspired wooden chalets selling an array of things. There is a carousel too for little ones. Best enjoyed at night time to capture London at its best!
4. Carnaby Street Christmas Lights
Follow up your Christmas shopping with a trip to Carnaby Street and have a look at their extravagant Christmas lights. Have a wander and see what other Christmas goodies you can find. If you feel peckish then we recommend Whyte and Brown in Kingly Court off Carnaby Street for drinks and food. If you have children with you, or just fancy something sweet, then Crumbs and Doilies do brilliant cakes, also based in Kingly Court.
