Auction
Our third NFT auction concluded this past week and we set a new record for the most valuable NFT in the Waifuverse! The Akeno Himejima NFT auction launched at 1M $WAIF and ended in stunning fashion with a 9M $WAIF winning bid. Congratulations to the lucky anon who is now the owner of this beautiful artwork. In fact, there is a pair of works attached to this collectible. We will respect the owner’s privacy and not mention how much skin is showing in the ‘surprise’ second image :)
The fourth auction should be just as exciting. Details will be announced soon! Make sure your wallets are full and you are thirsty for the next waifu.
Here’s how we are going to be using the $WAIF sent to our wallet from the auction:
We first need to cover the costs of artwork, hosting our website, and other software services that have allowed us to launch. But don’t worry — we won’t be liquidating these tokens on the market! There are several OTC buyers who are always looking for a chance to scoop some precious $WAIF without affecting price too much, and these folks are happy to transact with us. This means price won’t take a hit on Uniswap as we cover our initial costs.
100% of the remaining total is going to be dedicated to providing liquidity on a centralized exchange when we are ready to list. We think the time for that is soon and we have agreements ready to sign, but are holding off until market conditions are more favorable across the cryptocurrency landscape. In the short term we may deploy these tokens on our Uniswap pair to add depth to our WAIF/ETH pairing.
Waifu King’s Club
After the auction was wrapped we announced our exclusive chat for hardcore supporters. Anybody holding 1M $WAIF tokens will be given access to the Waifu King’s Club in both Telegram and Discord. All that is required (other than tokens) is a connected web3 wallet to confirm your balance.

What’s included in the King’s Club? Why we’re glad you asked.
Anybody who holds 1M $WAIF in their wallet will be awarded a unique title with access to private chats that include team + developers. You’ll have some previews of work in progress and we’re happy to collaborate with our biggest supporters on the stuff we are creating. We also are building a private WAIFU art gallery, exclusive memes, and more. Basically, we want to create some cool rewards for those who trust the plan!
Collab.land is a wonderful resource that other projects have used to create permissioned rooms. In fact, we will be able to interact and create “clubhouse” rooms for specific NFT owners because the tech works with non-ERC-20 tokens as well! We understand there are a few drawbacks to this. For instance, those who are providing liquidity and farming Jiaozi will not be recognized as Kings. Another issue is that some WAIFers prefer to distribute their holdings among several wallets for security reasons (or they don’t have a prenuptial agreement…).
Although collab.land is not the perfect solution we do believe we can tweak certain things for future compatibility. One idea is we could create non-Waifuverse NFTs and give those to important community members who we’d like to include regardless of their $WAIF balance. These collectibles would be more of a token of gratitude and a means of entering the King’s Club. In the spirit of a free and open market we’d also like these to be transferable! We will continue to research what is possible with this tool and keep the community informed.
Multi-sig Success
So much talk about tokens and money! It only makes sense that we deliver an update on an earlier commitment to provide a fair and transparent report on our balance sheet. Tokens from all three auctions are now sitting safely in our multi-signature wallet. A multi-sig ETH address is an ideal setup for our decentralized project because a quorum is necessary to send any transaction from this address. Private keys are not owned by a single person but rather a committee of core group members who are deeply invested in the project in terms of time and energy.
Just today we upgraded to a 4/7 scheme and added three new members onto the council! This means that only 4 individuals need to sign for an outbound transaction — especially helpful if a few of the fellas lose their keys (or disappear in an unfortunate boating accident). Who is the full cast?

In the future this council will grow with our project. Simply put, malicious non-WAIFers have to kill or abduct at least four of us to get our precious tokens.

Snapshot!
Until now the Waifu Project has been tight-lipped on our plans for governance and decentralized ownership. We are now ready to open the gates to our #snapshot voting feature! Hash and Eiko have integrated https://snapshot.page/#/ to create a simple, accessible and attractive front end for community proposals, polling, and other questions that will be presented to all WAIFU holders. There are some very fun possibilities here. The clear and obvious utility is for a more formal decision making process regarding funding, labor resources, and other “core” project issues we need community input on. For instance, we will be presenting a few options on how we will use our $WAIF fund.
Users must verify their balance with a signed transaction before they participate. This function does not require ETH for gas. Bigger wallets will still have a larger vote, of course. Are you a $WAIF whale that’s always wanted to force our hand on which commission is coming next? You may just be in luck.
We are going to encourage the community to put up polls for their favorite waifus from any and all series’. This will be a battle royale with brackets! We posted dozens of options for your favorite characters in our discord server last month and received some great input. Be sure to check in #waifu-voting and make your voice heard! The snapshot match-ups will go live by the end of the month. Does your favorite waifu have what it takes? Do you have enough $WAIF to boost her? How do you feel about us deploying a dApp to let you wager on the results? Are you willing to put your $WAIF where your mouth is?

Only Waif Club
So you may be wondering, what ties this all together? The Only Waifu Club (OWC) will be an exclusive website for $WAIF holders. It’s the center of the Waifuverse and reflects the essence of the Waifu Project. It is the perfect platform to host artists, entice waifu fans and reach wider crypto communities by offering economic incentives and unique experiences for everybody. For starters, NFT owners will be able to view their own high resolution art in the Waifu Showcase simply by connecting their web3 wallet containing a WAIFU ERC-1155. Our website will also provide a decentralized hosting service for artists to showcase their talents without the legal and financial restrictions imposed by current industry offerings. Cryptocurrency should set everybody free and give individuals control over their money and the Waifu Project is dedicated to using blockchain to benefit artists and their followers by obviating and replacing the central financial solution with a trustless protocol. In addition to this, we hope to provide some simple marketplace functions for everybody who wants to swap, speculate, and spend! A decentralized network of creators, fans and speculators is the ultimate goal. The OWC has no limits and will continue to grow with the project.
Initial goals set out are threefold:
1) Starting with the NFT Gallery, this will be the venue for $WAIF holders to see ALL of our NFT artwork in low resolution, unblurred and unpixelated. From common, user-generated WAIFU collectibles (oh yes, we are going there!) to our exclusive hand-drawn pieces, EVERYTHING that’s part of the Waifuverse will be exhibited for OWC members. After discussion with the team and community it’s quite clear there needs to be a way to “share” your high value WAIFU NFT if you are generous, or in need of some quick $WAIF tokens. The few lucky owners of the first 50 unique NFTs will be able to “rent” their artwork out in the VIP Showcase — our top-tier room for anybody in the top 50 who connects their web3 wallet. You will be able to access the same experience as the NFT owner with an imposed time limit. Implementing a renting mechanic is a long-term goal, but we believe everybody should have a chance to view this beautiful work in full resolution as it was intended and we want the collectible owners to decide whether or not they participate!
2) A large part of this platform will be signing artists who will create unique art that’s only hosted with us. Users will be able to stake their $WAIF to subscribe to an artist and unlock regular, private content. By integrating tipping, favorites, and a way to reward the most active contributors and fans the, Only Waif features will usher in a new era of juicy anime content free from censorship and unfair fees. We believe onboarding new creatives will generate a ton of hype and help sustain this particular dApp!
3) We are in the process of developing and testing an OTC contract which will make trading WAIFU NFTs and $WAIF tokens a breeze! There is no trustless solution for a p2p marketplace but we intend to deliver something that is simple, functional, and safe for everyone to swap. This will be hosted on OWC and our developer team will take a modest (.5%) fee, a fraction of typical OTC or escrow fees. A portion of this will be returned to the project fund to support new ideas and continued hosting costs.
If OWC is the heart of the Waifuverse then $WAIF is it’s blood. Many actions in the Waifuverse will require $WAIF and we hope to make this a low-fee or (mostly) gas-less experience in the not-so-distant future. Our intention has always been to build utility around our ERC-20 token. First OWC needs to be tested and we will be inviting select community members over the coming months to try it out and help us find the kinks. Get it — kinks?

Building the Waifuverse is a big undertaking but we have formed our initial vision by promising to mint at least 50 high-quality NFTs for the community. Experiences for these NFTs will be built out by and for the community! In this case it doesn’t make much sense to “hide” them. We want to make these NFTs lovable like characters in anime (except that you can actually own one). There will be a place to monetize some of these dope memes ya’ll are generating (looking at you, Barker and Starlin).
The three main components above are only the starting point. We love the idea of an interactive ecosystem which uses the $WAIF ERC-20, WAIFU ERC-1155 collectibles, and new content ready to be tokenized and added to the Waifuverse. Expect some great releases and surprises along the way, senpai!
