The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are searching for our next group of data analysts for the 2021–2022 season. Our student analytics team helps shape and support our decision-making processes through areas such as player development, advance scouting, player evaluation, and biomechanics. Our team is seeking individuals who have a passion for baseball and are interesting in solving complex problems. These individuals will have access to a variety of data sources and will have the opportunity to work individually and collaboratively to answer their baseball-related questions. This position requires at least 10 hours/week in the fall semester, and a minimum of 20 hours/week in the spring.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong skills in statistical modeling, quantitative analysis, data visualization, and more to develop reports that deliver the most relevant statistical support to coaches
  • Collect, synthesize, and analyze practice and in-game data to support needs of the team
  • Ad hoc projects to support Wake Forest baseball program

Qualifications

  • Wake Forest student for the 2021–2022 school year
  • Strong baseball knowledge and general understanding of advanced baseball metrics
  • Ability to interact and communicate complex findings with co-workers, coaches, and players
  • Experience with statistical models and solving problems through analytical methods
  • Experience with R, Python, and/or SQL strongly preferred
