It was the last month of my graduation and a lazy afternoon of 2006. All exams were over, and I was ready to face the uncertainty of the world.

I was leaving graduate school for good in two days. A song popped up on my computer screen, featuring a teen girl singing something with a guitar and all of her bling.

Not appealing to a 23-year-old tech guy.

15 years later, when YouTube dominated the content industry, I stumbled upon a song called

Out of the woods” by the same singer.

This time it was something, and I tried to discover a little.

Taylor Swift, the girl who isn’t scared to create and perform a song about her vulnerability. In reality, she has been doing this since the beginning of her career.

Last weekend on the couch

I sat on the couch, as usual, and turned on the big screen to watch a weekend movie. My wife also accompanied me, as she had nothing to do that evening. We ordered food from outside.

I surfed the channels, trying to find something that we both enjoy, and there it was, “The Eras Tour,” in its first week on an OTT platform (hot star India).

We decided to give it a try because it had been a long time since we had seen a concert film.

To our surprise, our eyes were glued to the screen for a straight 1.37 hours. Despite the fact that none of us were the so-called Swifties, she was able to keep us entertained for over an hour and a half on her own.

Next day in the evening

The next day, during our evening teatime, she became a topic of conversation. And my wife said why and how she was commanding such a huge crowd so efficiently.

There is something distinct about her personality, but what is it?

After about a minute of discussion, I stated that she had an ordinary voice, and my wife said that it’s her business acumen.

But there is another most important trait, which we both agreed upon.

It is her Authenticity as a creative person.

Most of her songs mainly represent who she really is.

It is like she has mastered a niche-Herself

From a song about a prince associated with a teen dream to her recent ‘anti-hero’ about her battle with depression, every Craft has always felt like she was representing her real self.

Whether it was a heartbreak story or her fascination with her male counterparts, she was able to convey it in a song in the most effective way.

She proves that there is nothing to be ashamed of who you are. Otherwise, people would not be dancing to a lame lyric like “We are never ever…ever getting back together.”

Final thoughts

Is it just me, or is there anyone else who thinks Taylor is a cat inside a human body?

Okay, I understand that I have a lousy sense of humor.

But the way she commands the catwalk during the Eras Tour is phenomenal. (Exact words from my wife.)

Undoubtedly, she is one of the most influential icons in the post pandemic era.

And she shows us the importance of having an authentic mindset.

No doubt, she is an inspiration to many.

As writers, I strongly believe we should all cherish our own authenticity.

Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are -Brené Brown
