Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Month.

During this entire month, I will be writing blogs every single day, where I will be sharing some resources and even my personal experience .

Before that, I would like to state what exactly is this mental health awareness month and why should we even bother about it.

Mental Health Awareness Month was started in the year 1949 in the USA by Mental Health America (MHA). Its purpose is to reduce the stigma around mental health and educate and support people struggling with it in silence.

It was found that 1 in 5 people in the USA suffer from mental illness, bringing the need for awareness to the forefront

During this month, MHA, along with other organizations, conducts activities based on different themes each year. This may include a toolkit containing resources to help individuals suffering from mental illness and to encourage everyone to spread awareness and support their loved ones

This year's theme is “Where to start”.The theme highlights that in this fast-moving world, we often tend to get overwhelmed by the constant changes that occur around us. We often find ourselves in confusion about how to deal with and take care of our mental health.

I even went through the MHA website and viewed the toolkit. The toolkit contains comprehensive material, which will not only help to identify/ educate us about mental health but also contain useful resources, that we can practice alongside in our daily schedule.

I haven’t completely checked out the toolkit yet, but as I slowly do, I would love to share some insights and what I have included or tried to include in my routine.

I encourage everyone to please visit the MHA website and download the toolkit for yourself and your loved ones too.

You can even take a screening test present on their website to learn more about your mental health.

Comment down how many of you have visited the MHA website and downloaded the toolkit.
