It’s my answer to the Wake. Write. Win.’s competition prompt.

How are you making this world a better place?

There are 2 simple truths.

  1. Life is suffering.
  2. Death is real.

People try to avoid or ignore both, as they inflict fear and sorrow.

Social media, the entertainment and fashion industry, self-help books, you name it. They all feed on our attention, yearning for distraction and fear.

People today struggle to be present for even a few minutes, constantly distracted by phones, TVs, and their own thoughts, making it difficult to hear their inner truth.

Many of us tend to ignore the harsh realities of life because we are consumed by emotional and spiritual hunger. These needs often become apparent only after our physical hunger is sated. That spiritual hunger will always remain devoid and drain us more unless it gets what it needs.

Unfortunately, we tend to neglect the importance of Emotional Intelligence and spirituality, considering them to be insignificant or overly simplistic.

We know who we are and what we want. It’s simple, isn’t it? Let's instead explore what’s on Mars.

“We need to be sophisticated enough not to reject a truth because it sounds like something we already know. We need to be mature enough to bend down and pick up governing ideas in their simplest guises,” as Alain de Botton states masterfully in his book ‘School of Life’.

Our self-knowledge may seem too simple to be given much attention. However, it is only by understanding ourselves that we can truly comprehend life and being. Alain de Botton highlights this idea by stating that the pursuit of wealth and status over several decades may actually be rooted in a forgotten desire to gain the attention of a distracted parent who is more interested in an older sibling.

Therefore, I adopted a mission of digging deep into self-knowledge by writing about ‘simple-looking’ life issues under the umbrella of “Inner Work”, adorning it with my own life experience and acquired knowledge.

My articles explore childhood traumas, parenting, emotional, spiritual, and mental wellness, emphasizing the importance of self-discovery.

One story at a time is a ritual for me to remind the simple truths I know theoretically yet forget practically.

One story at a time carries the big vision of emotionally and spiritually strong and satisfied people who are not afraid to accept life as suffering and death as real, instead turning these truths into an inspiration for a meaningful and worthwhile life.

One story at a time touches my heart and mind, shifting my eyes inward in the world of distractions.

One story at a time gives me hope of turning this simple yet noble effort into a butterfly effect for a more meaningful future.

One story at a time is my humble and noble mission to make the world a better place.

Thanks for reading!
