Littered throughout Chicago there are classy-high end steakhouses that date back near a century. Among the myriad of steakhouses one caught my eye in particular. Lawry’s The Prime Rib was founded in 1974, however, the building the restaurant is known as the McCormick Mansion. The building was built in 1890 and there are many claims that the late McCormick family members can be seen today in the restaurant as ghosts. The age of the building along with the lore brings a charm to the restaurant that keeps people coming. It is more than just a dinner it is an experience eating in such an old building. The food is just as important as the building itself. Older buildings appeal to people because of the character they have acquired in the decades they have been around. There is a comfort in being in a place thousands of others have been over the decades, it brings a familiarity to the restaurant.
